On the border of two regions Drenthe and Overijssel
On the border of Drenthe and Overijssel the river Reest passes by estates and flowery meadows. Grab the bike or put on your hiking boots. It is guaranteed that you will see storks. The Drentse National Parks, Drents- Friese Wold, Dwingelderveld and Weeribben-Wieden with the Venice-like Giethoorn are easily accessible.
In villages like Ruinen, Dwingeloo and Westerbork there is an authentic atmosphere. It's almost like you just went back in time. But our region offers just as much urban scenes. Which can be found in Steenwijk, Meppel and Hoogeveen, cities with a rich history. You'll find museums and galleries, interesting shops, cinemas and theatres, cafes and restaurants, cultural heritage and the largest water artwork of the Netherlands. In our direct vicinity a lot of places with delicious food can be found. We have two beautiful arrangements for you. In addition, there are several food festivals in the season. |
NatureWe have plenty of hiking and cycling opportunities in the immediate vicinity of Drentse krent. Routes and maps are available in the guest-stays. We have a few favorites, such as the Takkenhoogte, the Ruiner forest and Dwingelderveld. You find all information about Giethoorn here.

CultureThere is always something to do. Very special are: the memorial camp Westerbork, the museum village Orvelte, the Shakespeare Theater in Diever and the prison museum Veenhuizen. There is also art on display, for example in the sculpture garden Havixhorst, the Drents museum and the Foundation. We have many brochures available, so it is easy to choose.

CulinaryWithin a radius of a few kilometres we have excellent restaurants. Such as De Groene Lantaarn, now awarded with 2 Michelin stars. With the BuitenHerberg Ter Linde we have a beautiful arrangement. But also for Chinese specialties, Italian, steaks or for a special estate-meal we have good suggestions.
